Inspired by this post I set up a water station for Bear and J-jo. Bear always has had access to a small pitcher in the fridge (or she would go to the bathroom to fill up her glass), but I felt that this system might allow greater freedom. I also thought J-jo might be able to start observing Bear and learn to get water for himself.
I already had the small glasses. I have two itty bitty ones, two tiny ones (like the one in the photo above) and two small glasses (Bear uses the small) that I found here and there. We actually already had the water dispenser from when we lived in Costa Rica and couldn’t drink the faucet water. I set up a small tray on the floor under the spigot and left some washcloths for wiping spills. There is a small glass and itty bitty glass in the cubby underneath the water dispenser.
The second change to our kitchen was adding a small table. J-jo is now getting his own cutlery to indicate that he is hungry. He gets his spoon and walks to the booster seat. I felt kind of badly that he couldn’t get into his booster seat by himself, so I set up one of Bear’s work tables in the kitchen. Now J-jo can climb into the chair that is at the little table on his own.
