She is earning pennies for doing her violin exercises properly. Every time she has five pennies we trade for a nickel. When she earns another five, we trade the nickel and pennies in for a dime. I figure by the end of the year doing this, she will be an expert at counting coins. (And will have learned about saving and spending her earnings.)
