This is a lot of fun. Anna plays a lot of Little House in the Big Woods lately – usually it involves either shooting bears or making sure wild animals cannot get in.

Oh my goodness, I loved the first Boxcar Children book when I was a little girl. But I kind of lost interest in some of the other books in the series after they started living with their grandfather (I think it was their grandfather…its been a long time since I read it). After I read that book, I used to have long elaborate fantasies about making a house out in the wild (like a treehouse or a cave) and finding all of my dishes. Love your pretend play.

How fun! I should do this more with my son. In fact, I can hardly think of any examples of us doing it. I'll have to try to think of a fun, easy one to introduce the idea. Maybe I'll put the idea into one of his "learning boxes" for next week. Thanks for the idea. 🙂

I don't think I know of the Boxcar Children, so I am going to have to have a look for them now. It certainly looks like there is plenty in the stories for you to play with!

This play looks like fun and I love how you did it each day. We've acted out 'I Love My Mummy' by Giles Andreae and 'Where's My Teddy?' by Jez Alborough. Just keeping it simple at this stage.

How wonderful! We all love Boxcar Children. Children love to live out their favourite stories and you certainly have created moments that will last forever in their minds!
